Canadian Rockies
July 4th-8th, 2007

Day 1: Drove from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, to Jasper, Alberta. Stopped along the way at the Columbia Icefields and Sunwapta Falls.
Day 2: Cycled 92 miles from Jasper south to the Saskatchewan River Crossing, passing the Columbia Icefields. The big climb was Sunwapta Pass up towards the Icefields.
Day 3: Cycled 92 miles from the Saskatchewan River Crossing to Banff. The big climb was up Bow Pass, and then many rollers on the Bow Valley Parkway approaching Banff. We stopped at Lake Louise along the way (which also was a significant climb - at least it felt that way given how hot it was!). Oh, and exiting the Bow Valley Parkway we discovered the GIANT cattle guards!! After naively braving the first one, we walked around all others that we encountered!
Day 4: Cycled 86 miles from Banff to Radium Hotsprings, B.C. The big climbs were Vermillion Pass up to the Alberta/B.C. border, and then Sinclair Pass into Radium.
Day 5: Drove from Radium Hotsprings, B.C., back to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. We drove back via the Kicking Horse Pass, and stopped off at Emerald Lake just outside of Field, B.C., and Moraine Lake just outside of Lake Louise, Alberta. We also stopped at the Bow Summit, which is the highest point on the Icefields Parkway.
